This is a new painting I did called Wings and Water. I've been trying to do more sketching lately to keep up with my drawing abilities. The ability to draw definitely translates into better oil paintings. Here is a charcoal study sketch I did for this painting.
This sketch doesn't have a lot of detail because I was more focused on composition and motion. I kept it very loose and free.
Here are a couple of charcoal owl sketches I did that are a little more detailed.
I also tried a pelican in Pen and ink. I kind of like this one and hate this one at the same time.
It didn't turn out the way I imagined but it's growing on me because I like the loose lines and the color.
